Nailing Your GBW Event - Part Three

Good Beer Week is into its eighth year, so how do you create something original and exciting? Balter Brewers proves the sky's the limit! We chat to co-founder Stirling Howland about how to create something special for #GBW18, just like they did when they brought the very first Tins of Glory event to Good Beer Week!

Why does Balter love Good Beer Week?

It's just epic to get together with people who love good beer and a good time.

What makes a good beer event to you?

Something new, interactive and fun. For us it's about putting the people who come front and centre. What style of event are we running, and what are all the elements that will make them walk away feeling stoked they came out?

But specific things that make a good event are point of difference (even if you're doing a common event, how will you put your twist on it), epic venue, value for money (be generous) and work on the vibe.

Best piece of advice for a venue or brewery looking to do their first GBW event?

Try something new that maybe hasn't been done before. Be you. What is it as brewery do you stand for and how do you bring that to life the best way you know how? If people walk away and want to talk about you to their mates you've done a good job.

Practical advice is always avoid venues that require you to get council permits. It's a shit fight and can take 3-6 months and you're still not guaranteed to get them.

THANKS SO MUCH STIRLING! THE GOOD BEER WEEK TEAM CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT BALTER BRINGS TO #GBW18!
